The second round of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship, which starts tomorrow at the all new Chang International Circuit in Buriram began in style earlier today as Jordi Torres (Aprilia Racing Team – Red Devils), Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team), Michael van der Mark (Pata Honda World Superbike Team), Sylvain Barrier (BMW Motorrad Italia), Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) Alex Lowes (Voltcom Crescent Suzuk), Niccolò Canepa (Team Hero EBR) and Leandro Mercado (Barni Racing Team) together with Thai World Supersport riders Ratthapark Wilairot (CORE Motorsport Thailand WSS Team), Thitipong Warokom (A.P. An official jersey of the football club was presented to each rider by Mr Chaichonok Chidchib, a representative of Buriram United FC before an official ‘football team’ style photo was taken on the pitch. In between the TV interviews and photo opportunities, the riders challenged each other to a ‘kick about’ that finished with a penalty shoot-out.
Tomorrow sees the opening session on track with FP1 for both World Superbike and World Supersport classes extended to provide additional time for the riders to get up to speed.
